Medaljen ble delt ut på det Nordiske BetongSymposiet i Finland under banketten tirsdag 31. mai. Medaljen deles ut hvert tredje år.

"Nordic Concrete Federation Medal 2011
At the Tuesday evening banquet of the Nordic Concrete Research Symposium in Hämeenlinna, Finland (May 30 – June 1rst), Prof. Olafur Wallevik was awarded the Nordic Concrete Federation Medal 2011.
The medal is normally awarded once every third year.
Reasoning for the 2011 award, based on the statutes :
He has accomplished substantial development within theory and methodology of fresh concrete properties design and testing, combining concrete constituents properties for targeting concrete manufacturing and construction properties. This includes the quality parameters of the constituents and, hence, product development on both levels.
He has accomplished to develop testing equipment for targeting these key properties and even a commercial business concept for his, from the initial “BML viscometer” prototypes into more sophisticated models.
His work and efforts has to a large extent facilitated the combination of laboratory based research and on-site construction conditions.
In excess of 25 years, he has devoted himself to co-operation with all the Nordic countries, in research projects, consulting services and lectures. In these activities, he is always inspiring and supportive – and promotes his partners’ own development. His performance and style is unusual enthusiastic and inspiring.
With literally the entire world as playground, he is an excellent ambassador for Nordic research, his reputation accordingly stressed.
He is active also by taking on board responsibilities for developing our professional environment, chairing conferences and supporting networking, to an extent that underlines his unselfish attitude and approach.
On national level, he has taken responsibility for horizontal synergies between disciplines and also vertical integration with industry and authorities.
