The Norwegian Concrete Association has been a leading participant regarding the use of wet-mix sprayed concrete for many years. It is therefore with great pleasure that we announce the Seventh International Symposium on the MODERN USE OF WET-MIX SPRAYED CONCRETE FOR UNDERGROUND SUPPORT. This conference will be located in Sandefjord, in the south east of Norway.
We sincerely hope that many of our international colleagues will again take the opportunity to present papers, exchange experiences and discuss the latest developments in wet-mix sprayed concrete.
The main symposium themes will be design, construction and durability of wet-mix sprayed concrete in underground structures. The increased recognition of Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL) in the global tunnelling industry will be discussed during the symposium. Current standards and practice for water and frost protection of SCL for cold climates is a topic to be debated. The Norwegian Concrete Association revised the Norwegian code of practice; Publication No 7, Sprayed Concrete for Rock Support – Technical Specification, Guidelines and Test Methods in August 2011. The experience form implementation og the revised guideline will be presented in the symposium.
Wet-mix sprayed concrete technology has been further developed to a much higher level since the first symposium in 1993, with the latest developments in chemical additives, application equipment and fibres as well as integrated sprayable membranes. It will continue to change, and the Seventh International Symposium in Sandefjord will ensure that delegates are kept abreast of the new developments in the use of sprayed concrete for tunnel support and lining.
